Job Search? - the Resume and Cover Letter

Resume - the tool you use to sell yourself to prospective employers has gone techno. The accuracy of the resume content is, of course, your responsibility. The layout of this essential document can be chosen with consideration given to how it will be read - paper and/or online.

Link here to a Microsoft Word tutorial that can provide a valuable assist whether you do-it-yourself or have it prepared. Presentation is from Microsoft Office-Word 2007 a YouTUBE example

Cover letters are important for introducing yourself. Here is a YouTUBE link to guide you. Careful choices should be made to

  • address your letter to an individual not "to whom it may concern"
  • identify the specific position you are applying for
  • draw attention to qualilfications and experience you have that make you well-suited to the position.
  • offer contact information in case more information is needed

The Microsoft Word tool called Mail Merge can be valuable if you anticipate making contact and submitting resumes to lists of potential employers. This YouTUBE example includes creating both the form letter and a list of recipients you can adapt for your own use.

OS - Operating Systems for Mac and PC

Your GUI - graphical user interface - is likely what motivates the choice you'll make between a Mac and a PC. Of course there are other considerations, including budget and the work you may be required to produce. The links that follow provide information on present and future operating systems. Features of the OSs presented may help as you learn to operate your present computer or help you to select your next computer. This is information not endorsement.

COMING in September 2009 - Snow Leopard the update to Mac OSX Leopard is designed to add operating speed along with other features. Experience Mac OSX - Leopard a guided tour from Apple Computer stores.
